Asthon's Story

On June 22, 2005, PACRT received a call from the grandfather of Ashton. Dale explained that his grandson had been abducted by the boy’s mother (Desera) on March 21, 2005 from the child’s day care center in Minooka, IL. Since then there had been no contact with Desera, but there had been sightings of her in adjacent areas of Illinois, including Joliet, Orland Park, Ottawa and Bloomington. The day of the abduction, Desera and her uncle, Joe, were suppose to be interviewed by the Joliet (IL) Police Department regarding questions of sexual abuse against Ashton by Desera and Joe. A felony warrant for the arrest of Desera was issued.

After a consultation with PACRT attorney, Robin Dietz-Mayfield, PACRT founder and president, Ed Wunsch flew to Joliet to meet with Dale and other family members on two different occasions. Over the next several weeks, various unique investigative techniques were applied to this case in attempts to locate Ashton. Working with private investigators in Illinois and Michigan many leads were developed and followed up on.

As Ed and other investigators were working this case from an investigative perspective, Ashton’s family received an anonymous call on July 11, 2005 that Desera and Ashton were at a home in Springfield, IL. Quick action by the family of Ashton resulting in the return of Ashton and the arrest of his mother.

While PACRT was not directly involved in the location and recovery of the child, we were there to react quickly to the needs of the child.

Special thanks to the following TEAM that assisted on this case:
