Ed graduated from the University
of Wisconsin – Platteville with a degree in Criminal Justice
and Psychology.
During the day, Ed spoke to several
criminal justice classes providing insight into the reality
of working difficult Parental Abduction cases and the relationship
to the entire Criminal Justice System: law enforcement, prosecution
and corrections.
In the evening, Ed addressed
about one hundred students, faculty, prospective students,
and alumni for an hour. In that speech, Ed impressed on
students the seriousness of the issues of Parental Abduction
in the United States, horror stories of dealing with inept
criminal justice agencies, and the importance of getting
involved in their community to make a difference in the
world.
Located in the southwest corner
of the state, The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-P)
has one of the oldest and most well-recognized criminal
justice programs in existence. For the past thirty-four
years, it has sponsored the annual Criminal Justice Career
Day. Nearly one hundred federal, state, local and private
sector organizations “invade” Platteville and
provide the opportunity for students to “…network
with a wide variety of law enforcement agencies to receive
insight and educational tips in an opportunity to enhance
their chances of future employment,” according to
Professor Joe Lomax, of the Criminal Justice Department,
whose brainchild the Career Day was thirty-four years ago.
UW-P offers a four-year Bachelor’s
Degree in Criminal Justice, an on-line distant learning
Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, and will soon be offering
